Police: Gas station employee shot, killed in York

Police in York say an employee of an Exxon Mart was shot and killed early Tuesday morning during an attempted robbery.

It happened along the 1000 block of West Market Street. According to police the employee, 44-year-old Aditya “Sunny” Anand, opened the store at 5 a.m. and was shot shortly before 6 a.m.

“On 10/17/17 at approximately 5:46 AM, the York City Police Department responded to the Exxon Gas Station at 1000 W. Market St. for a reported shooting victim. Upon arrival, officers discovered a 44 year old male, from West York on the ground and they administered care until ambulance arrived. Upon arrival at York Hospital, the victim died from his wounds. It was discovered that the victim was shot while working at the Exxon Gas Station during an attempted robbery. Suspect information is a black male, large build, beard and approximately 30 years of age. He was wearing a black hoodie sweatshirt with an olive drab coat, jeans and white sneakers.”
