Domino’s Pizza is poised to enter the downtown Buffalo market with its first location in the central business district.
The national pizza chain has signed a lease to occupy the former Delaware Copy and Reproduction Center at 189 Delaware Ave. The Domino’s location is due to open this winter.
The Delaware Avenue site, which puts Domino’s just across from the Avant/Embassy Suites building and down the street from the Hampton Inn, is Domino’s third in the region. Domino’s has two stores in Amherst.
When it opens, Domino’s will become the latest in an increasingly long line of new restaurants that have either opened or will soon be opening in downtown Buffalo. Most of are locally-owned, but chains like Domino’s and the Dinosaur BBQ are chains.
“Downtown has clearly caught the attention of national chains,” said Michael Schmand,Buffalo Place Inc. executive director. “It wasn’t always like that. Anytime you get and gain the attention of a national chain, it is a good thing and a sign of progress.”
